Why use the Internet ?
The
Internet is a worldwide computer network using open standards. DEDICATEDengines
has secure technology which enables the public Internet to be used as a company
network - an "extranet". This allows information for a single organisation to
be gathered from plant and equipment around the world and be monitored on a
secure "server" and made available to one or many authorised
users.
DEDICATEDengines also has the technology to allow a selected
portion of the information to be made available to partner (third party)
companies. Realistically the Internet is the only medium which allows two or
more companies to share business information directly without compromising the
integrity of the companies involved. DEDICATEDengines is making selected
information available to third parties to give customer/suppliers close but
controllable interaction.
DEDICATEDengines is not about the
transactional transfer of business to business information, but is DEDICATED to
connecting and integrating plant and equipment to provide enterprise wide
information on the intrastructure of a business.
The Internet is the
only practical remote, distance way for businesses to get readings of, eg.
material inventory or equipment performance from their own or customer's sites.
Connecting business computer systems together is a slow expensive task, with
the added risk or "uncomfortable" feeling of exposing your computing system to
someone else's. The DEDICATEDengines internet-based system provides an
immediate, independent link into the customer's site and allows the information
to be shared via a web-site, without any connection to the customer's computers
or internal local or wide-area network. Not just manufacturing information can
be accessed, but any plant or equipment, or any measurable variable (eg.
swimming pool chemicals for a hotel chain).
Internet vs
Intranet
Many companies have their own internal computer network.
These days, this is usually based on the TCP/IP Internet protocol, but this
does not mean that it can be used like the www Internet.
In all cases
the equipment at the core of these businesses is not connected to the network
in a way that enables the information to be efficiently used. Furthermore, the
information is deliberately isolated from outside the company - yet this blocks
them from using the information for mobile, third party or at remote sites.
DEDICATEDengines has products and technology to enable the benefits of
the Internet to be used in conjunction with large company Intranets. Such
applications as live equipment data on WAP phones can realistically only be
achieved through DEDICATEDengines web sites. |
