Back Hosted Internet Supply Chain Management System to be launched at CIM 2000 (November, 2000) DEDICATED.engines will be using the CIM 2000 exhibition to launch their new Supply Chain Management by Internet System. DEDICATED.engines are already trialing the system Imerys Minerals Ltd (formerly English China Clay). Imerys are working with DEDICATED.engines to improve their supply chain management systems across their European operations using Internet technologies. Imerys recognises that this automated stock replenishment system represents a a real value -added service for their customers. The 'Supply Chain Management by Internet' system from DEDICATED.engines will allow Imerys to automate its bulk chemical supply chain to his customers. Once the web site is configured, the business process will be reduced so that there is no day-to-day involvement by the end user of the bulk chemicals or Imerys. Data Capture hardware installed at the customer's site streams bulk storage tank levels to the Internet Web Site Server, where Imerys can set re-order levels via data entry directly onto a dynamic web page. Data can be viewed using a web browser, or WAP phone. Once the bulk storage tanks hit the re-order level, the third-party haulage contractor receives automatic notification that a delivery is due. Early warning allows the haulage contractor to plan his tanker logistics in a cost-effective manner. Tank levels at each customer's site can be viewed by the tanker driver using a WAP phone. The new system will assist the customers by initially allowing Imerys to directly monitor the bulk tank levels for the customers, thus side-stepping the customer's current labour intensive task and avoiding the need for their purchasing department to raise individual orders several times each week.
