Server background
Software data presentation
pages run on the DEDICATEDengines' server. They can be configured to process
and present data from any number of on-site DATAengines.
Information is
presented in different ways, for different applications. All are shown as
active web pages, i.e. live data, viewable simultaneously by all entitled
users, via any web browser (from anywhere in the world).

Current Practise
Using the Internet to distribute information via a
web-site is familiar to everyone. Using the web-site to share, eg. supply chain
information or plant asset status between businesses, is the fastest growing
Internet sector. The business need is for supply chain or plant asset
information to be accurate and up to date, ie. "real data, real time", but is
actually limited to 'second-hand', 'derived' or 'out of date' information,
which already resides within the business operation.
Currently, if a
business requires, eg. inventory or asset information from remote locations (or
even the local factory floor or yard), or from it's customers' or suppliers'
locations; it has to rely on staff fetching the information, or separate
systems, or third parties - all with inherent delays and opportunities for
inaccuracies, discontinuities or misinterpretation.

By
using a centralised eMIS internet based enterprise Management Information
System open platform allows 'everything' to be connected, hooking up all sites
involved in a collaborative network and making the same, up to date information
(from actual plant or equipment) available to all necessary parties at the same
time, via standard web browsers.
Software - and
reliability
The DEDICATEDengines database server is "hosted" (rented
out) from a reputable internet service provider, from one of the most secure
facilities in the UK; an old gold bullion vault with state of the art back-ups,
stand-by generators and multiple Internet feeds.
The database server
runs the ultra reliable 'industry standard' "Linux/Apache" operating system.
This software combination runs approximately 70% of the Internet world-wide and
is highly proven and respected.
On the plant the DEDICATED DATAengines
uses a very efficient microprocessor. This means lower power and higher
reliability.
DEDICATEDengines use it's unique software, originally
developed for UK prisons, with over 10 years of field use (9 million hours
operation), in highly reliable 24/7 prison locking systems. This software,
derived from the DOS operating system, allows specialist and low volume
software applications - ideally suited to the wide range of interfacing
required for general industrial and commercial use. |
