User access and security

DEDICATEDengines uses "SSL" to get data from the on-site data engines to the Server. When on the server, user access is limited to their "partition" of the DEDICATEDengines site only. Within this partition, individual pages can be password protected.

A feature of the software is the ability to generate specific data pages for third parties, such as haulage carriers or independent maintenance contractors, while not allowing them access to the full customer's site.

DEDICATEDengines protection and customer data protection

At the plant the software in the DEDICATEDengines interface is security locked to the hardware, to make direct copying very difficult. The software on the Internet server is also protected and cannot be accessed directly or downloaded. The internet address of the server is fully embedded in the interface so it will only communicate with the DEDICATEDengines server and data cannot be diverted elsewhere. The customer's information is encrypted before sending to the server using a bespoke encoding method.

Once on the server, the sophisticated security methods of the 'industry standard' Linux operating system and Apache software are used to stop unauthorised entry. If required, the viewing of the data can be via a "secure socket connection" (SSL), the same method used for credit card transactions. However, where the customer only needs to view information, security need not be this tight. In applications where the customer is remotely controlling plant and equipment, then full security is recommended.
